Because of the increasing Covid-19 confirmed cases in Taiwan since mid-May, our department has stopped all the acupuncture treatment for both inpatients and outpatients. Herbal medicine is still available. Many patients came to us for NRICM101 and I personally take this formula since we have a higher risk of being infected. 

I hope we can all get vaccinated soon and please wear masks all the time and wash hands frequently.

Going Back to School for Ph.D. Program

Hello Everyone,

I got admitted to this Ph.D. program: Graduate Institute of Life Science at the National Defense Medical Center. The school will begin in September 2021.

Since I worked at Tri-service General Hospital, it is super convenient for me to go to school literally next door. I will focus on clinical TCM research and hopefully, I can graduate in the near future.

Costs of TCM Treatment

Tri-service General Hospital (Neihu & Tingjhou)

Acupuncture: $600 
the diagnostic fee is included.

Herbal granule: $70-$100/day
and the diagnostic fee is an extra $500.

Herbal decoction: $300-500/day 
and the diagnostic fee is an extra $500.

*The price of herbal granules depends on the herbs I prescribe.

If you take herbal granules for one week, it will be around $60x7+$500= $920

If you do acupuncture and herbal granule for one week, the price would be $600 + $60x7 +$500= $1,520

The price above is self-paid. 
If you are with National Health Insurance, the diagnostic fee and herbal granule are covered. You only need to pay a $100-200 registration fee plus $40-180 for 1-4 weeks herbal medicine granule. 

The concentration of herbal decoction is higher than herbal granule. We offer decoction cooking service for an extra $50-60/day

The decoction is all self-paid.

關心自己，從觀察排便做起

您是否曾經觀察過自己的排泄物？是像香蕉一般成形且軟硬適中，還是軟散不成形，或如同羊屎般堅硬？可別小看我們排出的大便，透過觀察大便的形狀與質地，可以知道一個人的體質與健康狀態，尤其是腸胃道的功能。

💩大便是怎麼產生的呢？

從中醫的角度來看，食物由口腔經食道進入胃中，胃會先進行「腐熟」，將食物初步消化後藉由脾的「運化」功能，將水穀精微轉化成人體可以運用的氣血津液，而運化後的食糜傳到小腸，藉由小腸「分清泌濁」的功能，將有用的精微物質回收，無法再利用的「糟粕」就進到大腸中，由大腸將水份再吸收後形成糞便，並傳導到大腸末端，經由肛門排出。是不是跟現代醫學的觀察很像呢？比較不同的是，中醫認為這個過程還得透過「肺」的宣發，將脾運化後的精微物質散佈到全身，還有「腎」的溫煦功能才能順利。

💩為什麼大便會有不同的形質？

正常的糞便應該是軟硬適中，且質地均勻，讓我們可以很舒暢地每隔一段時間將糞便排出體外。若您夠仔細且長時間進行觀察，其實我們的糞便或多或少都會以不同的型態出現，相信您也有遇過肚子痛拉肚子、水瀉、大便堅硬或是大便解不出來的時候。為什麼我們的糞便會有這麼多不同的形質呢？當我們的身體受到外來的刺激，比如不良的飲食與生活習慣、情緒與壓力的波動，種種因素使得上述臟腑的陰陽、氣血產生變動，進而影響臟腑的生理功能，大便的形質因而改變。

💩為什麼每個人都不一樣？如何治療？

如果是體質陰陽平和、臟腑功能正常的人，比較不容易受到外來因素的刺激，因而比較能夠維持穩定的排便習慣，如果體質偏性較明顯、腸胃功能較弱，易受飲食、情緒、壓力等因素影響的人，常常稍有風吹草動則種種症狀便馬上出現。尤有甚者，許多因癌症切除部分胃、小腸、大腸，術後產生的排便問題也都是中醫門診常見的案例，透過中藥、針灸、按摩、導引等不同方式來調理，常可以收到不錯的療效。關心自己的健康，就從觀察自己的排便做起！
